Questions about YellowTradie
Short answers to the questions a trader asks before trying the app. If yours is not here, email support@yellowtradie.com.
What is YellowTradie?
A phone app for one UK tradesperson. You speak a job and it writes a priced quote. It keeps the job, the invoice and the costs together, chases what is owed, and works out the figures for your quarterly tax. The about page says why it exists.
Who is it for?
An electrician, plumber, builder, roofer, decorator or landscaper. One person on one phone.
It is not for a team. There are no staff logins and no way to share a job between people.
What does it cost?
£19.99 a month. One plan, everything in the app. There is no setup fee and no charge for each person.
The first 14 days are free. A card is needed to start the trial. Nothing is charged until the 14 days are up.
The app is not in the shops yet. The trial starts the day it opens.
What happens after the 14 days?
On day 15 the first £19.99 is taken. After that it is £19.99 a month. If you cancel before day 15, you pay nothing.
Can I cancel?
Yes. Cancel any time. There is no notice period and no admin fee. If you cancel inside the trial, you pay nothing. If you cancel after paying, you keep the month you have paid for.
What does it not do?
It does not answer your phone. The missed call message service is designed and not built. It does not file a tax return or a VAT return with HMRC. It does not connect to accounting software yet. Card payments are not live.
Does it work without a signal?
The jobs, quotes, invoices, costs and notes are kept in the app on your phone, so you can read and edit them without a signal. The assistant needs a connection to answer a question. A customer opening a link needs a connection too.
Where are my records kept?
On your phone, inside the app. There is no account to sign in to yet. If you delete the app, its records go with it.
What does the app do about VAT and CIS?
VAT: you can add VAT to a quote, an invoice or a receipt, and the app works out the amount. It does not send a VAT return to HMRC.
CIS: you can record CIS payments as a contractor or as a subcontractor. The app works out the deduction and keeps a monthly record. It does not file the CIS return. The File on GOV.UK button opens HMRC's own service.
Can I move my customers and jobs in from another app?
Not yet. There is no import. You can export a quarter as a spreadsheet for your accountant. You can type a customer in, or add one by talking to the assistant.
Is the app in the shops yet?
No. It is not in the App Store or Google Play. There is no date yet. Join the early access list and we will tell you the day it opens.
How do I get help?
Email support@yellowtradie.com. It is one person reading it, so a reply can take a working day. Tell us what you were doing and what the app did. A screenshot helps.
