Tradify alternatives for a solo trader
Tradify is a strong product and it has more users than any other trade job app in the UK and New Zealand. It covers quotes and jobs and invoicing and it adds team tools and certificates and live accounting links that many small firms rely on. That coverage is its strength, and this page starts there. If you already use Tradify and it fits your team, there is no need to move.
Our verdict is that most Tradify alternatives win on one thing and lose on another, so the best move depends on what you want week to week. YellowTradie is the better fit for a person on their own who wants the quote to write itself from speech and the records to stay on the phone, with one flat price. The table sets out the prices checked on the same day so you can weigh them.
Prices checked on 24 October 2026. Tradify checked on tradifyhq.com/uk/pricing. Powered Now checked on powerednow.com/pricing. YourTradebase checked on yourtradebase.com/pricing. Jobber checked on getjobber.com/pricing. ServiceM8 UK checked on servicem8.com/uk/pricing.
When YellowTradie is the better fit
Choose YellowTradie if you want:
- to speak the job on site and have the quote fill itself into Materials and Labour and travel and charges
- a single price of £19.99 a month with no count of users, because there is only you
- your jobs and quotes and invoices kept on your phone, with no second login
- the customer's link to approve a quote without an account or a password
- tax figures worked from your records as an estimate, with the note that it is not advice

What the other tools do better
Tradify itself is ahead on team and paper. It has a desktop app as well as phone, recurring jobs and custom statuses and job templates on Pro and above, and compliance certificates that many trades must leave on site. It also syncs bills and contacts with Xero and Sage and QuickBooks on every plan. YellowTradie is phone first and has one login, and our live accounting links are still being built.
Powered Now does certificates and routing and What3Words and text reminders, with a clear scale from Business to Premium. If you need a form or a sketch on site, it has both.
YourTradebase keeps the bill simple at £29 a month plus £15 per extra user, with no contract. It offers a 30 day trial with no card. If you want to know the cost and then get on with work, that price shape helps.
Jobber brings marketing and a client hub and online booking and add ons that run calls and pipeline and reports at team level. If you want an office system that books and sells as well as runs jobs, Jobber has more there.
ServiceM8 gives a free plan for 30 jobs and then a job count scale up to 1500 plus, with unlimited users on every paid plan. It also has forms and asset management and a service phone system from £15 a month. If you have a crew or you need a live form on site, ServiceM8 will be used each day.
Those are real gaps on our side. We are one address in Wales at support@yellowtradie.com, with one flat price and no team view, because we are built for one person on one phone.
Questions
Which Tradify alternative is cheapest for a solo trader
On the pages checked on 24 October 2026, the lowest paid plan for one person is ServiceM8 Free at £0 for 1 user and 30 jobs. Among paid plans that month, the lowest monthly figure listed is Powered Now Business at £28 per user per month excluding VAT, then YourTradebase at £29 a month plus VAT, then Tradify Lite at £34 per user per month, then Jobber Core at $29 a month billed annually which is in US dollars. YellowTradie that day is £19.99 a month, one plan, 14 days free with a card. Check the sources row for the links to each price.
Do I lose my Tradify records if I switch
No, not on the day you stop. Tradify holds records in the cloud, so you need to export quotes and invoices and customers before you close the account. YellowTradie keeps records on the phone, with a sheet export for the accountant. Whatever tool you pick, do the export while the old account is still active.
Which one lets me speak the quote
YellowTradie. You say the job on site and each sentence files into Materials or Labour or Travel or Additional charges. Tradify and Powered Now and YourTradebase and Jobber and ServiceM8 build quotes by picking items and typing. Most add saved price lists and templates to make typing faster.
Can I keep using a laptop in the office
Tradify, Powered Now, Jobber and ServiceM8 all offer desktop or web access as well as phone apps. YourTradebase works from phone and desktop too. YellowTradie is phone first, with a sheet export when you need a copy outside the phone. The customer link is the only page a customer opens outside the app.
Do any of these file my VAT for me
None of them files with HMRC by itself except through the tools that prepare a VAT return. Tradify syncs with Xero and Sage and QuickBooks on every plan. Powered Now includes VAT returns on every plan and Xero on Professional and above. ServiceM8 syncs with Xero and QuickBooks Online on every plan. Jobber lists QuickBooks Online. YellowTradie exports a sheet and has Making Tax Digital quarters that match HMRC dates, but it does not file. A tax estimate is an estimate, not advice.
What if I only need a free plan
If you need no monthly bill, ServiceM8 Free covers 30 jobs a month for 1 user at £0, checked on 24 October 2026. Tradify has no free plan, but a 14 day trial with no card. Powered Now has a 14 day trial. YourTradebase has a 30 day trial with no card. Jobber has a 14 day trial on Grow. YellowTradie has 14 days free with a card, and the app is not in the shops yet.
