YellowTradie against ServiceM8
ServiceM8 is a field service app that is used by many trade and service firms. It covers scheduling and quotes and invoices and payments and customer messages and team work and forms, and it has been built out over many years. That depth is its strength, and this comparison starts there. If you want a platform that can run a crew and capture forms and assets on site, ServiceM8 is the more set up choice.
Our verdict is that ServiceM8 is the better fit for a firm that wants job limits by plan and a wide set of add ons, and YellowTradie is the better fit for a person on their own who wants the quote to write itself from speech and the records to stay on the phone. The table is for that one person.
Prices checked on 24 October 2026. YellowTradie checked on yellowtradie.com/pricing.html. ServiceM8 UK checked on servicem8.com/uk/pricing on the same day. ServiceM8 UK prices are in pounds and exclude VAT.

What ServiceM8 does better
ServiceM8 does more on site than we do. Electronic forms and asset tracking and proposals and bundles are in the plan set, and the form store has hundreds of pre made forms you can buy and use on any plan. A trader who has to leave a certificate or a report on site will find that work ready. We do not make certificates and we say so.
It is built for a team in a way we are not. Every paid plan allows unlimited users, and each plan adds more jobs per month rather than per user. You get dispatch and GPS and timesheets and staff messaging and a service phone system from £15 a month on top. YellowTradie has one phone for one person and no user count at all. If you pay even one other person, that side will be used each week.
The free plan is a real difference. A sole trader can run 30 jobs a month at no charge on ServiceM8. YellowTradie has no free plan. Our trial is 14 days with a card, and then £19.99 a month. If you want to run a live business at no monthly cost, that free tier will be the deciding point.
Questions
What does ServiceM8 cost for a solo trader today
On servicem8.com/uk/pricing checked on 24 October 2026, ServiceM8 UK is Free at £0 a month for 1 user and 30 jobs, then Starter £25 a month for 50 jobs, Growing £59 for 150 jobs, Premium £119 for 500 jobs, and Premium Plus £269 for 1500 plus jobs. All paid plans allow unlimited users. Each price excludes VAT. YellowTradie checked the same day is £19.99 a month, one plan, 14 days free with a card, with no job limit.
Is there a free option
Yes, on ServiceM8. The Free plan is £0 a month for 1 user and 30 jobs. It includes scheduling and quotes and invoices and the main tools, with extra jobs earned by taking card payments in some cases. YellowTradie has a free trial but no free plan.
Do I need accounting software with either one
Not to keep the tax figures. Both keep money in and money out. ServiceM8 syncs clients and invoices and payments with Xero and QuickBooks Online on every plan. YellowTradie exports a sheet for the accountant and the live links are being built. If a direct feed is a must today, that will be the deciding point.
Can ServiceM8 handle certificates and forms
Yes. Electronic forms and asset management and bundles are part of the paid set, with forms sold in the form store on any plan. You can fill them on site and make a PDF. YellowTradie does not make trade certificates. We keep the job proof as notes and photos tied to the job.
What happens to my records if I cancel
In YellowTradie the records stay on your phone, so cancelling stops the payment and leaves quotes and invoices where they were. In ServiceM8 the records are in the cloud, so you need an export if you leave. Check the terms on their site for how long trial data is kept after you stop.
Which one is better if I only do 20 jobs a month
If the count is low, ServiceM8 Free can cover it at £0. If you want speech to quote and the phone to hold the whole record with no other account, YellowTradie at £19.99 a month is the trade. Price and job count are the first two rows to compare.
